Plastic Free Chalenge - Create Task

This week, The book choices were the same and still about environment
The problem in this book is the plastic pollution.

Question 1. How did this problem occur?
It occurred by the thrown away plastic.

Question 2. Is this an easy problem to solve?
It won't be easy to solve because so much of it has been thrown away, there's even an island
made out of plastic, The island is six times the size of new zealand

Question 3. How can you help this situation?
You can help this situation by not using as much plastic,
recycling old plastic and buying less plastic covered food

The effects of plastic being poured into the ocean:
It creates “dead zones”  meaning nothing can survive there
60 to 95 percent of the ocean is covered by plastic meaning that most marine mammals would eat the
plastic and die
Fish, Seabirds and Sea Turtles can become entangled in the plastic
If a seabird eats plastic it takes up room in their stomachs, which sometimes can lead to starvation.
It kills upto 1 million seabirds a year

Simple ways to stop usage of plastic:
Reduce your single use plastics
Recycle properly
Avoid products that use micro beads
Support organisations addressing the plastic pollution

Random facts about the plastic pollution:
5.25 trillion micro plastics are in the ocean
There is at least 269,000 tonnes of plastic is in the ocean
Plastic is 60 to 95 percent of marine debris
Everyday at least 8 million pieces of plastic find their way into the ocean
It is believed that more than 90 percent of birds and fish have plastic particles in their stomachs

Plastic pollution was first discovered in the late 1960's and early 1970's by scientists carrying out
plankton
