10 facts about kiwi
1.   There are four species of kiwi:  The little spotted kiwi,
The great spotted kiwi, The brown kiwi and the Tokoeka. 
2.    To the maori the little spotted kiwi is known as Pukupuku. 
3.    They are the size of a small chicken. 
4.    The females are heavier than the males. 
5.     Feathers are loosely attached to the kiwis skin. 
6.     They have a keen sense of smell and extremely good hearing. 
7.     Kiwis are the only bird in the world that have their nostrils on the tip of their
bill. 
8.     One of their burrows is 1-3 meters long. 
9.     They can live upto 30 years. 
10.   Kiwis have un-hollow bones. 

11.   They talk by making chugging and sniffing noises.

  1. Interesting facts Heidi. I didn't know Kiwis could live so long or that their burrows were so long. What fact surprised you the most?
